What do you call them? Bike shorts or biker shorts? Cycling shorts?
Whatever you call them, the best bike shorts for plus size are from Torrid and come in two inseams, 5" and 9".
The 5" bike shorts from Torrid fit mid thigh rather than to the knee (9"). I have 5 pair of their 5" inseam and over 15 pairs of their regular 9" inseam.
Here's a pic comparing the different inseams..5" inseam vs. 9" inseam
5" inseam I would recommend for wearing under a dress.
If you have big thighs like me..warning your legs will rub together. Apply some monistat care chafing relief powder gel to your inner thighs to prevent chub rub. (bonus, this gel also works as a makeup primer!)
Overall, I prefer their 9" for everyday wear. They prevent chub rub and I don't have to use Monistat chafing gel or worry about pulling out the bunched material from my crotch when my thighs eat them up.
I've been purchasing Torrid bike shorts since 2019, and have way too many..I've lost count. Other than a small amount of pilling all have held up, and I attribue that to not putting my clothes in the dryer.
Check out this post about why you should air dry your clothes.
If you must use the dryer, my tip would be to avoid purchasing any clothing with gold, silver, or rainbow "foils". This material can not withstand the heat, and I've read several reviews that it wears off after one wash. Avoid!
I love to stock up on their bike shorts when they're on the clearance rack. $8 is a good price point, totally worth it for that amount when on sale.
Here's my current faves from Torrid. Since I have quite a few black pair, I only buy the black bike shorts if it has a cool pattern or mesh/fishnet.
Wish my size wasn't sold out for these fishnet shorts, here's hoping for a re-stock. They should also make a shorter version too.
